Martin Newth: artist and photographer.

Martin Newth's work explores the relationship between time, space and movement. In his large format photographs he uses very long exposure times from one hour to 96 hours. This website shows documentation of work made since 1999. These include '8 Hours' a series of all-night exposure photographs of motel beds in which he and his wife slept whilst on honeymoon in the USA and photographs of escalators at London Tube stations taken with one hour exposures during rush hour. Martin Newth is currently Subject Leader of BA(Hons) Photography at Camberwell College of Art. He studied Fine Art at Newcastle University and the Slade School of Art, London. Martin Newth lives and works in London.
